This can occur with or without anaemia. once levels drop under 100ng/ml, symptoms such as hair loss, headaches, insomnia, breathlessness, fatigue, depression etc will ensue. you will feel worse as levels drop further and treatment with iron is needed to correct the deficiency. people present with symptoms but doctors don’t routinely check ferritin.
